Additional comments |
I found my experiences both wonderful and scary. I loved the people and the area, but the work was hard and we all were afraid of 'flunking out.' Expectations were high and at this age I look back and am grateful. As a 'Yankee' going South I found the segregation hard at first. To address some by first names or as "Uncle___" or "Aunt ___" was distressing. It was during my life as a faculty wife that changes started, but we moved away before integration.
