We all cared, but we knew what we had to do and didn't question. We were in WWII time, I worked at Woodrow Wilson Army Hospital for 8 months as a cadet nurse. We were to be the first class inducted into Army nurse corps when we graduated in 1945. Luckily, the war ended a few months before.

After getting married and moving to a smaller town they came to me about being sup. of the 25 bed hospital-my training prepared me to undertake anything. No doctors "on duty"-few RNs, so the nurses did it all from emergencies to deliveries to running a hospital. The kitchen, food, supplies, OR,everything. Then, I learned the "nitty-gritty."
