Comments on memorable educational experience I had a good basic eduaction in the field of nursing there and enjoyed many years of service in nursing-staff. Head nurse, supervisor, and last teaching students.

Comments on Charlottesville memories Walked to town to shop, I had no money, so I stayed around the hospital and walked.

Incidents that caused these community feelings Student nurses worked everyday. I felt like the nurses were there to work for the hospital to get educated, and that alone. We studied when we had to.
Vivid UVA memories
Comments on vivid memories Most of what I have said reflects my nursing experience. I don't think the U.Va. was too impressed with concern for nurses.

Comments on influence of cultural background It had a great experience on my life. I came out of a poor farm community and the wonder to me of becoming a nurse was a real accomplishment for me.

Comments on preparedness Yes, I do. Even though I worked hard to get along the prestige carried me through a lifetime.

Comments on most significant event During WWII I realized how much I had gained at UVA. Married for 4.5 years, lived in Texas, 1 child born and died heart defect lived 2 mos. Divorce 1951.
Personal factors that affected professional life
Comments on personal factors College evening attendance for several years 1950-70's. Off and on to direct myself in the things I needed to get along in this world.
Other factors affecting life after the university
Comments on other factors I spent 7 yrs. in the Army nurse corps and 18 yrs US Army Reserve and retired 1978 with 25 good years of service.

Additional comments I am very happy the Principal at Boiling Spring high school recommended the UVA School of Nursing to me and I am happy they allowed me to finish my nursing there. We worked hard, but we got the education we needed to accomplish a very effective profession for all the years of work and to feel good about our school.
