Our teachers-instructors,etc., especially outstanding Miss McLeod-our leader. It was (as if a rule:"the older nurses were always kind, ready to teach us." Younger ones-and I made every effort to do the same.

A young Jewish student from NY came to UVA. He "was caught" in the polio "period"-was quite ill, I was one of the nurses to be special to him. His parents were so greatful that we gave great attention to "our student" they wrote a beautiful letter of appreciation to our school.

I had a grandmother who was an "education to all sick" with her "self educated" through love for people-and could deliver babies-and how to treat sick people. There were 2 doctors in Danville, Va at the time who at times would call grandmother to help out with an ill patient.
