There was obvious dislike of female students in "on-grounds" classes (by students and some faculty).

Nursing, at that time, was confining - almost entirely in the hospital and McKim Hall. We staffed the hospital plus going to class thus leaving very little time for other interests.

An eye-opener as I began my entire college experience at the age of 16 1/2 years! I found that my high school had not really prepared me for college.

Not really. Felt we should have been better prepared for entering the "working" world, i.e. financial guidance - encouragement to advance our education.

Wishing to do bedside nursing instead of administrative work has kept the salary low. Hospital dictates too much of our work lives. We have little say re: decisions made in department.

Am delighted that female students are as much a part of the system as the males! Feel that students, today, are better prepared to enter the work force and advance. Too - students can participate in community activities, hold jobs and feel a part of the town.
