Comments on choice to attend UVA	It fit my ideal of a moderate sized university, co-ed and with a 3 year diploma program within our ability to pay.

Why did you choose your UVA concentration(s)?
Comments on choice of concentration	"I always wanted to be a nurse" (grandfather was an M.D.) and it is a profession which, once learned, would always be there as a way to earn a living.

Comments on memorable educational experience	I have been very grateful that our education included the opportunity to experience all of the available medical services, e.g. surg/OR; mental health/psych; ER; med.; peds; OB/delivery; isolation; night duty; etc.

Did UVA prepare you for post-UVA life?
Comments on preparedness	I feel I developed a very common sense, down-to-earth, calm, practical ability to deal with life in general. And after 25 years not working I was able with minimal retraining to feel comfortably able to deal with patients requiring high-tech home nursing care.

Comments on other factors	Our older daughter's marriage in Italy to an Italian has made possible travel and a much greater understanding of history and peoples from other cultures and other parts of our world, especially western Europe.

Additional comments	I feel I received an excellent, all-around nursing education - but the amount of information that students of today have to learn can make ours, in some ways, seem insignificant (our son received his RN-BSN from Valparaiso U., IN, and is a member of Sigma Theta Lau and works as an Emergency Room nurse in Chicago's inner city.)
