Incidents that caused these community feelings We were very sheltered-had little spare time & very stict rules.
Vivid UVA memories
Comments on vivid memories The part that I remember most is having a gentleman friend and then when big weekends came they would import dates because nurses couldn't go or had to be in at special hours. It was a bummer.

Comments on influence of cultural background It was a cultural shock! None of friends smoke or drank-most of student nurses did both, so I felt really out of the mainstream. I learned to do both. Compared to most of the other students I came from a very poor family.
Did UVA prepare you for post-UVA life?
Comments on preparedness Yes, I immediately got a job-nursing has been good to me, I have worked all my life and never had problems getting a job.
